The Hope of Advent: Day Two
We kicked off this daily read through Advent here.
“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will fulfill the promise I made to the house of Israel and the house of Judah. In those days and at that time I will cause a righteous Branch to spring up for David, and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land. In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely. And this is the name by which it will be called: ‘The Lord is our righteousness.'”
– Jeremiah 33:14-16
There are so many promises in this passage, so many hope-giving statements, that I imagine the people hearing Jeremiah clinging to these words, repeating them in their head in an effort to renew the hope deep in their heart.
A promise is made: Justice will come, Righteousness will reign, and it’s coming – this hope is on the way. The Branch of David will change everything, saving Judah and bringing peace to Jerusalem. This righteousness will restore the people.
Today, know that Hope is on it’s on way, that justice, righteousness and peace will be restored through a God who fulfills all promises.
